Hello there friends and family! This weekend I had the great opportunity to go to San Antonia which is a port about an hour and a half south west of Santiago. My best friend Francisca has all of her extended family there (all the uncles, aunts, cousins and grandpa from her dad's side. He grew up there). We went and stayed with her grandpa who was such a sweet and funny man! He has a great sense of humor and lit up having her there. It was really sweet. He has a long time family friend who lives with him to help with cleaning and food but he really gets along amazingly for his age and is just full of spunk and life and jokes. He reminded me a lot of Papa Herb in his humor and manner ha. We also stopped by her familys' cafe twice where we drank banana smoothies (below) and I tried my first churrasco which is a type of meat served on bread with avocado and tomato, It was delicious and the cafe was adorable. As you can see slightly in the background there are old pictures of the whole family on the back wall and it was cool to see all of the history (Dad I still think we should open a restaurant)
Her Grandpa also had this gem at his house and it is now technically Francisca's! Literally my dream car.... it is a volkswagen bug from 1976 and is literally the cutest coolest car ever! We are going back this weekend so that we can visit Tata (What they call grandpa's here) and drive this beauty to the beach!
Here is another picture of my little volleyball team. We lost really badly but still look happy haha. It is nice to play again; definitely not the same level as my CAL team but the girls are awesome and we have fun. Its super strange to do volleyball talk in spanish though haha somehow it came pretty naturally! I just started calling AFUERA AFUERA!
I also included some pictures of the ADORABLE little kids that I work with twice a week at my internship. Have I told you all about that yet? I must have... if not please let me know ha But anyway here are some of my little babies that I get to play with. They are so sweet and just want some solid lovin and I try my very best to give as much as I can to each and every one of them!
This is Hugo :) He has an incredibly smile and also slightly growls a lot. It sounds a lot like the batman voice that I do and it makes me laugh so hard every time haha its hilarious
This is Fran and I toasting with our PARSLEY tea that we are drinking every day. She read that drinking a cup of parsley water helps get rid of nasty things in your body and so we started trying it. Three days strong now. Its pretty blehhhh to be honest but I just chug my glass super fast and get it over with. We also put a hot towel on our liver before bed because apparently it helps with digestion. In fact mine is on right now! This is why I just love this girl though because she finds weird things like this and actually wants to do them haha
This is a picture of my little fruit stand :) i finally remembered to take a picture yesterday. It is about 2 blocks from my house and is owned by this little old man and his sons and they are all SUCH NICE PEOPLE! They are always so sweet and helpful and hardworking and everyone in the neighborhood goes to them. I know its good because all the locals go there. And its super cheap... I can buy avocados, tomatoes, bananas, carrots, zucchini, and apples for about 2,300 pesos which is about $4.50. pretty incredible!
Lastly, just wanted to congratulate my mamma again! Congrats to the most incredible woman in my life who also happens to be my mom and one of my best friends and my biggest mentor and my counselor and my therapist and makes me laugh and also apparently RUNS HALF MARATHONS! What a champ. Not a bad place to run either if you ask me look at that San Diego weather! But really congrats mamma, I'm so proud of you for following through with this and finishing in an amazing time and also slightly enjoying the whole process haha LOVE YOU! (p.s thanks so much to Grandma Bertie and Pops and Zach and Megan and Julie and Janie and Fajy and everyone else who was there to support her even though I couldn't be) i felt better knowing she was in good hands ;)
